What could be more idyllic than having your own Shepherd’s Hut? Perhaps only one that is set in the grounds of a Grade II Georgian country house – with stunning views across seven acres of gardens and open pastures, and with use of a swimming pool.

The Shepherd’s Hut at Buck’s Green was built two years ago, to a high standard, and by local craftsman. As such it has all the retro charm of old with the benefits of the modern day.

There is a well-equipped kitchen area complete with gas hob, and a bathroom with shower, toilet, basin and a supply of eco-friendly toiletries. The ingeniously designed dining area converts at night to a cosy double bed, with the help of a comfy mattress topper, duvet and pillows. The electric wood burner means you are sure to be warm and cosy. The oak finishes, and charming floral prints on the cushions and curtains give the Hut a timeless retro feel.

Outside there is a lovely picnic table, steamer chairs, and a barbecue for alfresco dining on warmer days – all with a view across open fields. The resident goats, alpacas and miniature Shetland ponies may all pop up the fence to welcome you to this beautiful corner of Sussex.

Amazing stay at the shepherd’s hut! It is in an ideal location close to local pubs and a great cafe. The hut was extremely clean and cosy. The highlight of our stay was having access to the owner’s fields where they keep friendly goats, ponies and alpacas. Can’t wait to visit again in the summer!
Thank you very much for such a wonderful time. Local food suggestions were perfect and exactly what we wanted. The hut and land surrounding is so beautiful especially with the animals. Waking up each morning to alpacas, goats, ponies and hens on your doorstep was so peaceful. We really couldn’t have asked for a better place to have a getaway from the hustle and bustle of London but so close too. Benny our dog loved it too, especially sleeping by the fire while we looked at the stars for a relaxing final evening.

Thank you very much for a lovely stay in the Shepherd’s Hut. It was really magical staying there and my son is completely besotted – he said “he’d woken up in heaven”. He absolutely loved all the animals. We hope to be back someday soon.

The hut is beautiful inside and out, with lots of lovely extras; foodie bits on arrival, including fresh eggs from the chickens, a fire outside, a speaker to play music inside. It’s warm and cosy and in a great location for exploring the Surrey Hills. Would definitely recommend!
We have just got back from the Shepherd’s Hut. You can walk between the fields down to the stream and the animals are very friendly. The hut itself was spotlessly clean and so quirky. Everything you could need was provided – bread eggs milk butter tea coffee etc and some delicious cookies! There’s a docking station for iPods/iPhones too and a couple of games are also in the hut. There’s plenty of things within walking distance (we didn’t venture too far as were there to do nothing ha!) but we enjoyed a nice drink in The Fox and the next day had a yummy roast in there too so would recommend popping along there (just a 4 min walk and plenty of parking if you want to drive). My partner is a big guy and over 6ft but we didn’t feel cramped and the bed was fine. We would love to come back to the hut and stay again and would 100% recommenced a stay here. I only wish we stayed longer!
One of my favourite places to stay for a countryside break! The hut was so beautifully decorated with great attention to detail, immaculate and clean. There were goats, ponies and alpacas(!) nearby to greet us in the morning. The owner was very welcoming and helpful, provided us with eggs from her chicken coop and other ingredients for breakfast. She gave us pointers on where to go within the area, helped us arrange our BBQ which we enjoyed by the field. We were there for three nights and wish we could have stayed longer! Highly recommend staying here.
