Things to do

Food & drink The fantastic The Globe Inn Marsh pub is a five-minute walk from the Cabin. Favourites in Rye are The Fig, Whitehouse Rye, The Standard Inn and Hoof. Make sure you visit The Woolpack Inn at Warehorne and for a step back in time, the Red Lion at Snargate. La Cantina in Tenterden also has a great Italian menu inspired by seasonal products.

To do Rye is a very interesting historic town and one of the original Cinque Ports with plenty of boutique shops, antique emporiums and galleries. Why not combine your stay with one of Rye’s festivals: Rye International Jazz Festival, Rye Scallop Festival, the Rye Arts Festival and the famous bonfire procession and fireworks. For beach lovers, Camber is close by with its sand dunes and expansive seascape, where you can pass the time swimming, beachcombing or maybe even try your hand at windsurfing. The beautifully eerie Dungeness is around 20 minutes away and fashionable St Leonards & Hastings are a short hop by train or car.

Reviews

Cabin by the River is beautifully styled, immaculately clean and a very peaceful place to stay in a great position within walking distance to great pub and also into Rye. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

We had a dream experience with Cabins and Castles. Zoe was quick to respond to our various questions and went the extra mile to ensure our stay was one to remember. Anna, our host has built the most amazing Cabin next to her house  – it was the perfect blend of luxury and comfort.  Every corner of the Cabin is a Pinterest dream and was fitted out with all the amenities we needed for a perfect stay (bathtub, firepit, smart tv….you name it). Anna also nailed it on recommendations  – we took all of her suggestions on board and they didnt disappoint. We were locals at The Globe Inn and The Standard in Rye  by the end of the weekend. We also visited Tillingham Winery in Peasmarsh and The Gallivant in Camber Sands – both so lovely. We also found some great walks around Rye.

We have recommended Cabins and Castles to all our friends and can’t wait to use the site again ourselves.

Thank you Zoe and Anna for making our anniversary weekend so special.

This is a truly beautiful place to stay for a romantic getaway. The pictures don’t really do it justice; the design and decor is very stylish and the cabin is furnished to a very high standard. It’s clear that the owner takes enormous pride in the cabin and we were delighted to find thoughtful treats on arrival. Whilst the owner and her family live just next door, the cabin enjoys great privacy and lovely views over the river and surrounding fields. It’s also ideally located – only a 12 minute walk from the station and Rye itself.

We had a lovely peaceful relaxing weekend at the cabin. The fizz, hot drink and fridge supplies were most welcome on our arrival. It was beautiful being by the river, and the cabin felt very private. Friendly dog, great bathtub and shower, enormous bed, stylish and inspiring interior. Town centre Rye is a short walk, we had a delicious dinner at Landgate Bistro (you need to book) and cycled route 2 to Camber and Lydd. We hope to escape here again one day.

This is a beautifully stylish cabin in the perfect location to explore Rye, Camber and Dungeness. The owner has created a beautiful barn space perfect for couples looking to relax and unwind for a few days. We had a fantastic stay. Highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful cabin an easily walkable distance from the centre of Rye. The Globe pub a few mins away has an excellent array of gins, tasty food and a lovely atmosphere. The owners were on hand next door but we felt like we were alone which was fabulous. Lots of lovely touches like flowers, basic supplies and a bottle of bubbles helped to make our anniversary stay so special. The TV was excellent, central heating worked perfectly and if it hadn’t been raining there was a big stash of logs for the fire pit outside. The bed was HUGE and bedding was lovely. We will be back!
