Fair Oak Farm in East Sussex is an award-winning, unique country estate in the heart of the High Weald, available to hire for exclusive group use.

The farm comprises a stunning Grade II listed farmhouse, a range of converted barns, eco-lodge tree houses and shepherd’s huts (not available on an individual basis). A separate two-bedroom Oast House with private gated entrance provides additional ancillary accommodation if required. Surrounded by wonderful gardens and 12 acres of stunning Sussex countryside, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this is a truly unique and memorable location for business groups, hosting private retreats, or for family and group holidays.

Guests can dine together in the spectacular lounge barn, chill out in the cinema barn, play ping pong in the games barn or enjoy on-site treatments, a sauna or dine outside in the courtyard with firepits. Spend some time in the open air and take a stroll through the surrounding woodland and open countryside.

 

The medieval village of Mayfield, with two pubs and shops is just 3 miles, whilst Stonegate station is 2.5 miles with trains to London (1 hour journey time).

Business groups and retreat organisers can host up to 17 guests, each with single occupancy to a lodge, cottage or bedroom, increasing up to 24 guests with some sharing. Alternatively, sleep up to 32 guests for private events and group holidays with family and friends.

Features

Farmhouse The fabulously decorated Farm house sleeps 10-12 guests. The ground floor has a living area with an open fire and separate reception room with sofas. The fully equipped kitchen, with Aga, leads onto an open plan dining room which opens on to the rear courtyard and large gardens. Upstairs, the first floor has four main bedrooms, two with en-suite bathrooms, the master bedroom also boasts a walk- in dressing room. The second floor has two double bedrooms.

The converted farm buildings surround a private courtyard with seating, fire pit and blossom trees. The Barn & Cow Shed sleeping six, across two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom, all with private en-suites. There is a large open plan kitchen, dining and living area providing a social hub for groups and including a large screen projector, lounge and dining seating. Stable Cottage and the Grain Store each sleep between two and four people, with sofa beds in each living area. They, too, have fully equipped kitchens, dining areas and private bathrooms.

 

Eco Lodge Tree Houses Nestled in an ancient tree line and with stunning, uninterrupted views of the valley, the Eco-Lodge Tree Houses make for a peaceful and unique experience. Each sleeps two and has open plan studio living and sleeping space, a fully equipped kitchen, wet room with walk-in shower. They are complete with a decked seating area outside, to take in the breath-taking views.

Shepherd’s Huts and Hay Barn The two luxury Shepherd’s Huts, complete with log burners, are nestled into the orchard while the Hay Barn overlooks the paddock. Each sleeps two with a cosy living and sleeping area, kitchen, shower room and private outside seating area.

Outdoors: Set in 12 acres, Fair Oak Farm has gardens, terraces, courtyards complete with firepits, bbqs, outdoor seating areas and even roaming peacocks and alpacas.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome; some cots and high chairs can be provided. There is a play area on the grounds.

Dogs: Dogs are welcome at Fair Oak Farm, although are not permitted upstairs in the farmhouse or in the eco-lodge tree houses and shepherd huts, which are kept allergy-free. Dogs must be kept on a lead or at heel at all times in and around the grounds. Additional charges apply.

Location

Fair Oak Farm is surrounded by stunning, unspoilt countryside within the High Weald, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Fair Oak Farm is situated just three miles from the medieval village of Mayfield. The villages of Wadhurst, Heathfield and Ticehurst are also just 15 minutes away, while the spa town of Tunbridge Wells is 20 minutes away. Fair Oak Farm is just 1 hour from London by car. The closest train station is Stonegate, only 2 miles away. Wadhurst station is 6 miles away. Train journeys to London are around 1 hour. London Gatwick is 40 minutes away by car.

Things to do

Food & drink If you must leave Fair Oak Farm, head to nearby Mayfield. Here you have The Pink Cabbage, ideal for breakfast, lunch, tea and cakes. The Rose and Crown is a proper village pub, ideal for a drink or a bite to eat. The Middle house is your picture postcard restaurant in the heart of this medieval village. Mayfield also has a small supermarket, a butcher, deli and wine shop selling award winning local produce.

To do There are country walks in every direction around the farm, don’t forget your walking boots. The area is also perfect for cycling and bikes can be dropped off at the farm for you to head off and explore. Golf courses and fishing locations can also be found nearby, along with a host of castles, beautiful gardens, National Trust properties and the famous Ashdown Forest. Or simply stay put, enjoy the firepits and cinema room or alternatively pamper yourself with a massage onsite in the treatment studio.
