Maltravers Cottage offers all the charm of a country cottage, yet with all the delights of the town of Arundel right on the doorstep. Set on Maltravers Street, one of the prettiest in Arundel, Maltravers Cottage stands out thanks to its sky blue front door and wonderful wisteria. Inside there is an abundance of old-world charm – original wooden beams throughout, wooden floors and a stunning working fireplace in the kitchen. But it is the modern touches and styling that take this home out of the ordinary.

The canary yellow kitchen would bring a smile to your face on the dreariest of days, and reclaimed pine period furniture sits alongside primary-coloured anglepoise lamps and piles of bright cushions and throws. Throw open the French doors, and take supper or a glass of wine outside into the south-facing cottage garden. You may feel like you are in the deepest countryside, thanks to pots of cottage garden plants and beautiful stone and brick terracing – yet the garden leads directly to a ‘twitten’ that ends in the heart of the town centre, with Arundel’s Castle, shops, cafés and bars all ready to be explored. We had a wonderful week staying here with our 6 month old. The location is perfect for exploring Arundel and the surrounding areas. The cottage is fantastic with everything you need, there’s plenty of space, we enjoyed the garden and the bed was very comfy! We’d definitely return, thank you.
This is a beautiful, tranquil, quintessential Sussex cottage where you and your family will live, cook, rest and play as if you were in your own home. This is a lovely cottage and very cosy, you wouldn’t mind being rained in if it came to it. We relaxed in the garden and used the secret passageway to get to the local for a cheeky pint. The house is well insulated for winter, we used the lovely warm lounge room when we arrived early on a very wet and cold morning and warmed up straight away. A lovely short walk to bakeries, restaurants and Arundel’s main attractions and our 2 year old managed a walk to the river (slides and swings) if you don’t fancy dragging a pram or pushchair. An easy drive (whether you drive on the left or not) to market towns like Chichester and the beaches along the coast make this home central to a mixture of things to do for the family. This is one review I should not have written in fear that I won’t be able to book myself again!!! Don’t look any further if you are planning on staying in West Sussex. There will be very few homes that have considered everything and are as lovely and homely as Maltravers Cottage.
The cottage has everything you could need and sits in a wonderful street close to town. There are many pubs and restaurants within a 5 minute walk and the amazing Arundel castle too!
